The book is entertaining, easy to read and you don’t want to stop reading because something about the book is compelling you not to. That’s also why my heart broke for him in this book. I am sad to see the Gardella Chronicles end.

However, Sebastian feels a pyramid object in the pool and puzzles at it, but we, the reader, never finds out what it is. Max was one of my favorite characters in the first book, but I can’t take this angst. One of the first things the demons do is kidnap Wayren. But first, they discover the Tutela are up to something. There is this romance brewing with a pretty hot and sexy roguish character named Sebastian; however, Victoria ruins it with all her angst. She soon discovers that vampires plan to seize Akvan’s Obelisk, an artifact that will allow the holder to control the dead.

Yup, Victoria has a great deal of sex. There are some hints toward a love triangle, but based on how the romance went in this first book, I might be totally wrong and surprised by the direction that it goes!

This has not influenced my review. As I mentioned in my review of the first book, think of this series as Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Pride and Prejudice. She never let anyone push her around and always made her own decisions, no matter how stupid they were. Victoria is taking on more responsibilities as a Venator, although she still makes some immature decisions.

Can you tell that I still want Sebastian to die a crazy, horrible, painful death? My moment of happiness was a bit dashed with the turnout of things with Sebastian though. She was pretty perfect throughout this series as a horrendous villain.

Her confidence in herself in the first book seemed a little premature, but she proves herself here. The Gardella Vampire Chronicles is a historical paranormal romance with a heroine, Lady Victoria Gardella Grantworth de Lacy, struggling to balance her normal life with her not so normal. Another, less widespread theory, is that the Slavic languages have borrowed the word from a Turkic term for witch.

In every other book I couldn’t get enough of the romance and of Sebastian, but in this one I felt like the multiple perspectives were too much.

I think, however, that this book had three main things going for it Oh sure, Sebastian played his charm card over and over again with Victoria, but he campire a playboy who I never saw settling down with Victoria. I enjoy the characters, the setting, the witty banter, and the intrigue. What makes this read different from all other vampire slayer reads is chroncles of all, it takes place in Regency era England, and secondly, the world building is so inventive and wonderfully imagined by the author that fim leaves other books of this ilk in the dust.

Sarah Siddons retired from the stage, shipping and territory disputes started the War of between the United Kingdom and the United States. I don’t know WHAT he sees in her besides the fact she is young and has a nice body. Paperbackpages. I don’t like having to admire a bad guy’s vampier qualities because there’s something charming about him. It was engaging and entertaining and did a wonderful job wrapping up the series. So much better than the first book!

I didn’t enjoy this as much as the first one but I am definitely committed to cont Victoria is finally coming out of mourning and ready to get back to killing vampires. Here the book has all aspects of one and two stars, but now the book is thought and emotionally provoking. The book is perfectly paced with intimate moments and incredibly exciting action scenes which will have you turning pages as quickly as possible.

Additionally, Gleason gives a nod to the Gardella Vampire Chronicles in her steampunk series for young adults, Stoker and Holmes. Overall, I’m simply enthralled. I find him entertaining gardwlla their scenes together are pretty hot, but at the same time her infatuation with can border on annoying at times.

This installment is frustrating and thrilling.
